When will we see The Spider-Within?

On March 29th 2023, Sony announced “The Spider-Within”, a short film that takes place before Across The Spider-Verse, The film follows Miles as he struggles to balance his responsibilities as Spider-Man and his social life, which leads Miles into having a panic attack.

The short film premiered to a crowd at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 12th 2023 and was met with nothing but praise for how it handled its depiction of a panic attack.

But nothing more on when the public will see it has been said since. A lot of people thought we would get it as a bonus feature for the digital/physical release of Across the Spider-Verse, but when the bonus feature was announced for the release by Sony on August 1st 2023, the Spider-Within was absent.

In this article, I’m going to guess when we will see the short film.

Across the Spider-Verse Extended version cinema release

I know an extended version hasn’t been announced but just hear me out.

When Sony announced the bonus features for the Across The Spider-Verse digital/physical release, only one deleted scene was announced, and that was a deleted scene called “Miguel Calling”.

For a film that’s been in the works since 2018, it seems weird they are only releasing one deleted scene, plus this wouldn’t be the first time Sony has re-release a film in cinemas with an extended version, as they did this with Spider-Man No Way Home when they re-released the film with a few deleted scenes and called it the “More Fun Stuff Version”.

Plus attaching the short film to this would be the best option out of all the choices in this article since this short film does take place before Across The Spider-Verse.

Madame Web/Venom 3/Kraven The Hunter/Untitled Film

Currently, Sony has 4 Marvel films scheduled to release in 2024 (subject to change), Madame Web (February 14th), Venom 3 (July 12th), Kraven the Hunter (August 30th), and an untitled project (November 8th).

Sony could attach The Spider-Within to any of these projects to try help them a little bit at the box office.

It wouldn’t be the first time Sony has attached a Spider-Verse project to a Spider-Man spin-off film, as they did this with the first Venom film with a scene for Into the Spider-Verse being a post-credit scene for Venom.

Non-Marvel film

Most unlikely but definitely not out of the question choice from this list.

If Sony wanted to they could attach The Spider-Within to another non-Marvel Sony film they think could fail at the box office and could use the extra help.

YouTube

Laziest choice on here, but would certainly get views, There’s not much to say about this one.
