We all have that one game we used to play all the time from our childhood—a game that was fun, a game that you couldn’t wait to play as soon as you got back from school—and in some cases, a game you can no longer play.
Made by Gameloft and released in September 2014 for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, Spider-Man Unlimited was an endless runner game, but what set this apart from other endless runner games was the fact it had a story mode and that you could summon different Spider-People in a loot box-type system.
Yuri Lowenthal was the voice of Spider-Man for the game.
When first released, the game received good reviews for its gameplay, soundtrack, art style, and sound effects but was criticised for its story, lack of character development, and its energy system.
The story for the game saw you fighting the Sinister Six and their multiverse counterparts as they try to take over the Multiverse, and even though the game was downloaded over 30 million times during the game’s lifetime, the game got discontinued in March 2019, with the story for the game ending on a cliffhanger, pissing a lot of people off.
So why was the game discontinued? Although the game was downloaded over 30 million times, the number of people playing it decreased as the years went by, which is a tragedy.
When the game first came out, I was 16, and I enjoyed it. I loved the story mode and the fact you could play as all these different Spider-People while beating the crap out of characters like the Vulture and Gold Goblin.
What was your experience with this game?
